The SS Cedric was an ocean liner built by The White Star Line, the company that also built the Titanic (six years later). She was one of the Big Four and the largest vessel in the world at the time of her launch in 1903. She sailed her route of Liverpool to London by way of Boston until 1932 except for a period between 1914 and 1917 when she was refitted for various uses in the Great War/WW1.

The brochure on this fan is from a voyage in 1912 and details an evening program which included "Chinese Humor" and a Japanese song accompanied by shakuhachi flute. The fans are constructed from papers signed by passengers in attendance, listing their names and home cities or countries. Some are written in Roman script and some in Kanji.

This scroll is an amazing piece of history. I hope to research those listed on the program and search for descendants of those who signed these fans in order to share the artifact with them.

Suggested Value: Priceless. Chris is happy to show this scroll to anyone.
